About Me

I'm a Data Engineer at SDG Group, working on enterprise data platforms in hybrid AWS and Azure environments. Day to day that means developing and maintaining SQL-based data pipelines and the ingestion processes that feed analytics platforms, writing Python automation for data validation and data-quality monitoring, and troubleshooting ingestion failures before the people downstream notice their numbers are wrong.

# From infrastructure to data

I didn't start in data. My first job was as a junior system administrator at Alessi SPA, before university. Later, while finishing my Computer Science degree, I spent five years at Netwelink SNC as a system administrator — physical servers on VMware, Veeam backups, firewall configuration, Windows Active Directory and Microsoft 365, LAN and VLAN setup, telephone switchboards, RMM tooling across a portfolio of consulting clients. I also wrote internal tools in .NET and C# for those clients, and toward the end I built a data warehouse tool on SQL Server that surfaced business data as charts.

That last project is where the two halves of my career meet. It's also why I think about data systems the way I do: a pipeline is infrastructure, with uptime and failure modes and consequences when it breaks. Five years of running infrastructure is not a detour from data engineering — it's preparation for it.

# Building a product

In 2026 I founded and built AIutoelettricista.it, a SaaS platform for Italian electricians that automates the paperwork the trade can't avoid: AI-generated quotes from a photo of the job, the legally required Dichiarazione di Conformità, electronic invoicing through Italy's SDI interchange, and OCR scanning of supplier receipts.

It runs in production. I did the product, the React front end, the Python back end, the LLM extraction pipeline, and the infrastructure — Docker, CI/CD, DNS. Shipping something end to end, to users who are not engineers and do not care what your stack is, teaches things a data pipeline never will.

I'm particularly interested in data platform engineering, machine learning pipelines, and systems that scale to let organisations get value out of data that's structured, unstructured, or honestly a bit of both.

Italian is my first language, my English is a B2 Cambridge Assessment, and my German is a slow, curious work in progress.
